About Kathryn

Kathryn is a fully registered Clinical Psychologist, and holds a Master of Science (Psychology), a Post Graduate Diploma in Clinical Psychology, and a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Psychology).

APPROACH

Kathryn is an experienced Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about helping people grow and get more out of life. She works with people to pinpoint areas for change, identifying the roots of unhelpful patterns and what drives these, utilizes a person’s unique strengths and abilities, and teaches practical strategies to overcome difficulties and emotional pain.

Kathryn uses a combination of evidence-based therapies aimed at reducing distress and improving quality of life. Integrating science, theory, and a breadth of clinical experience, Kathryn hopes to make therapy as brief as it needs to be, helping people get back to living the life they value as soon as possible.

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE

Originally trained in New Zealand, Kathryn then lived and practiced in Sydney for nine years, before returning to Auckland in 2015. Throughout her training and work as a Clinical Psychologist in both New Zealand and Australia, she has worked with children, adolescents, and adults in diverse settings including specialised services for youth, mental health rehabilitation, adult community mental health, inpatient mental health units, and in private practice.

She also provides therapy addressing a range of other issues, including stress, pre and post-natal issues, substance use problems, addictions, sleep problems, interpersonal or workplace conflict, and grief and bereavement.

Prior to this, Kathryn worked for several years at St Vincent’s Mental Health Service in Sydney, providing psychological assessment and treatment to people experiencing major mental illness in both the community mental health team and the Caritas Inpatient Unit.

Kathryn is experienced in neuropsychological assessment, primarily of clients of mental health and rehabilitation services.
