If your GP has completed a Mental Health Care Plan, you are entitled to a rebate from Medicare of $124.50 per session, making the ‘gap’ payment $55.50. Please note that there is a maximum to how many sessions for which you can obtain a rebate – an initial six sessions followed by a further four sessions.

You may also be eligible for a rebate covering a portion of the session fee depending on your level of heath cover. Health fund rebates do not require a GP referral. It is a good idea to check with your Fund to ensure that they cover consultations with a Clinical Psychologist.

Kathryn uses the HICAPS system, an electronic system that gives people the convenience of automatic claims processing. This means clients can claim Medicare rebates or insurance rebates on the spot. Kathryn is registered with all the major health funds.

Once a session is scheduled, Kathryn dedicates that time to you and your therapy, and it is no longer available to other clients or those on the waiting list. Please give at least 48 hours notice if you are canceling or rescheduling a session. The cancellation fee for less than 48 hours notice is 50% of the full session fee. For less than 24 hours, the full fee is payable. Please note that you cannot claim the Medicare rebate for a missed session.
